WordsToMins is a small set of free tools that answer one question quickly: how long will this text take to read or say out loud?

What we do

Our words to minutes calculator, reading time calculator and speech time calculator convert a word count or pasted script into minutes using published average speeds for silent reading, speeches, presentations, podcasts and video voiceover.

Why we built it

Writers need to hit a runtime, speakers need to fit a slot, and video creators need a script that matches a 30 or 60 second spot. Most tools for this are cluttered or require sign-ups. We wanted a fast, clear one.

Our principles

• Private: text you paste is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
• Free: no accounts, no paywalls.
• Transparent: speeds are averages and the assumptions are shown on each page.
